Since 2008 Letterfest has been creating handmade gifts. These gifts have always been designed and manufactured to minimise the negative impact they have on the environment we want to go much further. We are challenging ourselves everyday to make more positive impacts, to help become part of the solution to the climate crisis. Below are a list of the new initiatives we are committed to for the coming years.
Everything we make has an impact
Reforestation
Our most ambitious project so far. We aim to build upon the success of our local tree-planting initiative to have a much bigger, global impact. We have partnered with Eden reforestation, who work with local communities to restore forests on a massive scale, thereby creating jobs, protecting ecosystems and helping mitigate climate change.
What we have done so far...
50,000 trees planted.
Our goal...
100,000 trees planted globally by the end of 2023.
Why Eden?
While our efforts locally have made a real impact and helped to improve our local environment, we believe that as Letterfest expands, so too do our responsibilities. Thats why we sought out Eden reforestation - an organisation whose environmental aims are perfectly aligned with ours and the ability to contribute to the climate solution on a global scale.
Eden reforestation also works with local farmers in the areas where trees are planted, so not only do they restore the environment but the livelihoods of local people as well.
Planet-friendly
packaging
Plastic waste is one of the most ecologically damaging issue that affect the world today, from the burning of waste reducing air quality and contributing to global warming, to the non-degradable rubbish ending up in landfill and our oceans.
From the outset, we have always strived to source the materials we use in a sustainable way.
What we have done so far...
80% reduction on our outbound plastic packaging.
Our goal...
100% plastic-free in our outbound packaging by the end of 2024.
Zero carbon Energy
The majority of the world's man-made carbon emissions are released by the burning fossil fuels to create electricity and heat. We have always been as economical as possible with energy usage. From 2023, we aim to go further.
What we have done so far...
Installation of solar panels at our Devon Headquarters to supply the majority of our electricity needs sustainably.
Our goal...
Renegotiation of all energy supply to be 100% supplied by clean, renewable energy.
